The Craftspeople of Vermont Furniture Designs
Rob Bachand and Adam Blaisdell are the new owners and master craftsmen at Vermont Furniture Designs. VFD is one of the Green Mountain State’s most respected furniture companies — it’s been around since 1970, nearly half a century. Today we’re sending out our congratulations to it’s new leadership, Rob and Adam who took over the company upon the recent retirement of founder, Arthur Weitzenfeld. Rob has been crafting furniture at VFD for 30 years and Adam for 16. We’re excited to see them take the helm and continue the tradition of producing handmade furniture of exceptional quality and design.
VFD in Action
We stopped in to see Rob recently and brought our friend Shane McFalls from Mondo Media in Brattleboro. Shane put together the above 1 minute video for you. It really shows the level of care and craftsmanship imbued in each VFD piece. Rob: “Rather than a 15 minute process at a lower end manufacturer, you’re talking about a 2 day process here.”
What Makes VFD Exceptional
Rob, Adam and their small team of craftspeople make each beautiful VFD piece to order, just for you, using eco-friendly sustainably harvested hardwood. VFD artisans bench-craft, using timeless techniques, such as dovetail drawers, mortise and tenon joinery and hand sanding. Each piece of wood is carefully matched for color and grain. The wood is meticulously sanded and finished with a natural oil and wax blend, which protects the piece while bringing out the color, grain, and depth of the wood and allowing it to age gracefully.
Attention to detail and quality throughout the crafting process is a hallmark of VFD furniture. We happily guarantee each piece for your lifetime. Check out VFD’s full line of dining, bedroom and living room furniture on our website. Collections include: Heartwood, Loft, Cable Crossing, Burlington, Heartwood, Horizon, Larssen, Skyline & Winslow.
