Enjoy Vermont State Parks & Outdoors on the House
By Heather Barrett
Here at Vermont Woods Studios, we deeply appreciate our outdoor playground that is the Green Mountain State. Our terrain allows us to partake in a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, biking, fishing, and relaxing in the shade of large trees. Vermont is home to 284 lakes, over 7,000 miles of streams, and 52 state parks.
The State of Vermont has created an annual event known as "Vermont Days," that provides a weekend of opportunities for Vermonters and visitors to explore the vast outdoor recreational activities Vermont has to offer. Vermont Days is opening up State Park day areas, state-owned historic sites, and the Vermont History Museum, for a free of charge weekend.
One event of the weekend includes joining Governor Peter Shumlin for the grand opening of the interactive, multi-media exhibit at the Calvin Coolidge Museum & Historic Site on Saturday, June 9. Calvin Coolidge was the 30th President of the United States, and grew up in rural Plymouth Notch, Vermont. The event will begin with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and will continue with a day-long celebration. Activities include free tours of the museum, cheese & wine tasting at the Plymouth Cheese Factory, old-time country music, and much, much more.
Also on the weekend agenda is Vermont's Free Fishing Day on Saturday, June 9. This is a once a year chance for Vermont residents and visitors to discover Vermont's high quality fresh water fishing on our pristine lakes, rives, and streams without a fishing license.
Join me in begging Mother Nature for a beautiful Vermont weekend!
