I've always loved American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, especially for his mastery of green design. But until recently when we started offering the Copeland collection of Frank Lloyd Wright® Furniture I had little idea of the breadth of his work. He designed hundreds of landmark buildings and homes during a career that spanned more than 70 years.
He really is "the greatest American architect of all time."
So it's very sad to see so many of his residential creations on the market at Save Wright. The homes are concentrated in Illinois and California but also scattered throughout the USA from Pennsylvania to Washington to Montana. Many are in varying states of disrepair and desperately in need of someone to restore them to their former splendor.
Are you, by chance looking for a world-class landmark to call home? Well, even if you're not spend some time browsing through Save Wright. Who knows? Maybe you'll fall in love with something you can't resist and then become a part of saving America's history. How cool would that be?

Are you using Pinterest yet? I know it might seem overwhelming to sign up for yet another social media account, but this is one I think you'll really love.
Pinterest makes bookmarks and favorites obsolete. Now you can do all that visually and intuitively on Pinterest.
Check out our new Cherry Wood Furniture Pinterest board. We've selected great photos of cherry furniture from our website and many others to illustrate what natural cherry actually looks like.
One of the things I love is that you can see at a glance all the different shades of natural cherry as it's in the ripening process.
You'll notice too that each piece of cherry furniture is Made in the USA, another good clue when looking for real cherry wood furniture. Learn more about cherry wood, it's unique characteristics and color variations at Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture.

Do you find yourself eating dinner in front of the fireplace or TV more these days? One of the Top 10 Trends in Furniture for 2012 is the move towards large custom coffee tables. Why is that?
I know at my house, if the boys are home, we eat at the kitchen table. But if it's just Ken and me we sit down on the couch and use the coffee table instead. It's casual and comfy and relaxing.
The large square coffee tables can fit up to 6 or 8 people around them. They're great for playing cards or setting drinks and snacks on or even just putting your feet up on after a long day.
Check out some of the new coffee tables we've recently added to our store. Most are available in solid cherry, maple, walnut, oak or reclaimed barnwood and can be customized to fit your space– large or small. Give Rebecca and Shannon a call to learn more.

Custom furniture "fast" is really an oxymoron. I mean, one of the nicest things about owning custom furniture is the knowlegedge that is was built carefully, just for you. Not that it was slapped together fast.
So in the world of handmade custom furniture, "fast" is a relative term.
Our new Copeland Furniture collection is perhaps the "fastest" furniture we can deliver with a lead time of about 5-8 weeks. Typically it takes Copeland up to 6 weeks to complete the crafting of your furniture then, depending on where you live, it takes another 1-3 weeks to get your furniture safely to your doorstep and installed in your home.
So is it worth waiting for? Check out our customer Testimonials to see. And consider too, that with handmade, custom furniture you're buying something you're going to have for the rest of your life. We hope you'll think it's worth the wait.

The other day, Dennis mentioned that our Vermont Sustainable Furniture website has been visited by people in almost ever country in the world. How cool is that? I couldn't resist having a look at our analytics program to see which countries have yet to discover Vermont's Fine Furniture.
So… of the planet's 196 countries, it appears there are 7 that we've yet to reach: Turkmenistan, Gabon, Central African Republic, Chad, South Sudan, Mauritiana, Papua New Guinea.
I'm not sure what to do with this information but it was fun to see how far the Internet has spread the word about a tiny group of fine furniture makers nestled in the foothills of Vermont's Green Mountain Forest.
If you're reading this from abroad and wondering how to bring Vermont made, fine wood furniture to your country, contact us. Exporting our eco-friendly furniture is part of our 10 year plan. We're open to new ideas from established interior design, fine furniture and home decor professionals around the world.

Remember the story about President George Washington? When he was a little boy, he chopped down his father’s favorite cherry tree. He had just gotten a new hatchet and I guess he couldn't resist. But when Washington's father called him on the carpet, the boy admitted his mistake, saying “I cannot tell a lie”. Of course, all was forgiven in return for the honest response. I wonder if they still teach that story in our schools?
Well anyway, in honor of that "all American" act of integrity, we're having a President's Day Fine Furniture Sale where all cherry furniture (and walnut, oak and maple too!) is priced at 15% off. It's one of only a couple sales/year when we are able to offer a 15% discount store wide.
Besides getting beautiful handmade furniture at a great price, you can feel patriotic about purchasing 100% American made furniture thereby helping our country’s economy.
So here's the fine print. The sale runs from today February 16 through February 21, 2012 and features a 15% discount on all wood furniture purchases storewide (minimum purchase $1500, Copeland furniture excluded). Each piece of furniture is hand made to order and can be customized online, by phone or our Vernon, Vermont-based showroom. Just so you know… the reason Copeland Furniture is excluded is that this line is always on sale with a low price guarantee.

Naturally, as wood furniture makers, we at Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture have to be concerned about forest conservation. It's the foundation of our company's viability.
Although our Green Mountain Forests in Vermont are healthy and sustainable we know that, from a global perspective deforestation is the Number 1 environmental problem on our planet today. Deforestation is a huge contributor to global warming, climate change, air pollution (carbon and other emissions from slash and burn practices), habitat loss, biodiversity loss, pollution of marine habitats (due to run-off from pesticides and fertilizers used to transform diverse forests into mono-cultured plantations) and more.
So at Vermont Woods Studios, we are working with The Nature Conservancy in support of their Plant A Billion Trees project. We plant one tree for every order we fulfill and we support many non-profits dedicated to forest conservation.
We appreciate your concern for the environment. When you buy wood furniture from us, you can rest assured that the forest where your furniture began it's life, will still be around for generations to come. As will your furniture!

Tomorrow on February 15, Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture is doing a fundraiser for one of my very favorite charities, Heifer International. 50% of all profits will be donated to Heifer, a non-profit organization that benefits children and families all over the world who are suffering from poverty, war and starvation. Heifer was started 60 years ago as an effort to end world hunger by helping people obtain a sustainable source of food and income.
Their idea is to give a family a heifer and teach them how to care for it and make it a part of their family and their livlihood. When the animal has an off-spring it is passed on to another family and a wonderful chain reaction of empowerment begins to occur. The program has been widely acclaimed and has achieved tremendous success. Now you can give heifers, goats, chickens and all sorts of other animals to help families make a living.
Did you know that 55% of the people on this earth are suffering from hunger…getting nothing more than a small bit of rice and water to eat every day? Hard to imagine, isn't it? But it's true. Check out this story about Beatrice Biira a young African girl who was able to go to school in her village, thanks to Heifer. Beatrice did so well that she was offered a scholarship to Northfield Mount Hermon high school (the same school that Kendall and Riley go to) and from there she has gone forth and done great things.
So if you or someone you know has been looking at our Vermont made furniture and waiting for the right time to buy, consider tomorrow! Your purchase will change someone's life.
