Looking for authentic handmade wood furniture, made in the good 'ol USA? It's not so easy to find it anymore, is it? Most Americans think of North Carolina as the fine furniture capitol of the USA, but over the past 30 years, that has changed. The furniture companies we think of as being quintessentially American — for example Thomasville, Broyhill, Ethan Allen and Lane — no longer make much, if any furniture in the USA. Instead they outsource their furniture to factories in China, Vietnam and other third world countries.
So where does one go to find authentic, high quality, handmade wood furniture? It turns out that Vermont is now considered to be the fine furniture capitol of the country. By unofficial count, some 2000 small wood furniture makers dot the rural Vermont countryside, taking advantage of the heavily forested nature of our state for supply of natural, eco-friendly raw materials.
At Vermont Woods Studios Furniture we represent many of these craftsmen, providing a low cost venue for the marketing and sale of their work. Our mission is to collaborate with Vermont's fine furniture makers, enabling them to spend more time in their studios doing what they do best: making beautiful, solid wood furniture. At the same time we can focus on our expertise: customer service– thus creating greater efficiency and the best possible prices for your heirloom quality handmade furniture. Give us a call to learn more about Vermont's many fine furniture makers and how to bring their work into your home or office.

A customer called yesterday asking if we sold solid wood furniture. When we explained to him that all of our furniture is handmade of solid wood that is harvested locally and regionally he couldn't believe it. He had been searching for solid wood furniture for quite awhile and was frustrated by the fact that upon closer inspection, none of the companies he had contacted actually did sell solid wood furniture.
The problem is, there is no universally agreed upon definition for solid wood furniture. So, as with claims that furniture is American made, we find that so called solid wood furniture is often made of particle board, pressed cardboard and thin sheets of fake wood veneers.

We have a natural, organic walnut bed to add to our Vermont Woods Studios Jim Andrews Collection. This was a special design requested by a customer, but we liked it so much, we've decided to offer it as part of our Jim Andrews Collection. The bed features elegant curves in the posts and complimentary curves in the headboard and footboard. It's shown here in natural walnut, but can be made in natural cherry, maple or oak as well.
Have you ever thought of designing your own furniture? Maybe you have an existing piece or set you would like to supplement. Or perhaps you have an odd shaped space you need to fit your furniture into. Or maybe you love the look of one of our natural cherry tables, but the dimensions need to be changed. Or you're looking for a different wood.
Custom and customized furniture are our specialty at Vermont Woods Studios. Each piece of our furniture is made to order and can be easily and affordably customized to meet your needs. Why not give us a call today? 1-888-390-5571. We look forward to hearing from you!
