Fall-vt

We're celebrating Fall with a Shaker style furniture sale that lasts for a few more days (till next Tuesday, Oct 2). Stop by to shop or just check out the colorful maple trees at the water's edge.

Autumn has arrived in Vernon, Vermont and I had to snap this photo today as I was leaving the showroom at Vermont Woods Studios.  It feels great to see water back in our pond at George's Mill after the summer's drought left it pretty well empty for several weeks.

We're celebrating Fall with a Shaker style furniture sale that lasts for a few more days (till next Tuesday, Oct 2).  Stop by to shop or just check out the colorful maple trees at the water's edge.  Heather or Liz will be more than happy to accompany you for an Autumn leaf-peeping stroll around the pond.

Craftsman-furniture

Over the last 25 years Vermont has become one of America's premiere Craftsman style furniture producers.  This is Copeland Furniture's Frank Lloyd Wright Barrel Chair.

Vermont craftsmen are known for their quality products and attention to fine detail.  This has long been well recognized in our Shaker style furniture, but over the last 25 years Vermont has also become one of America's premiere Craftsman style furniture producers.

By way of background, Craftsman Style Furniture grew out of the Arts and Crafts movement promoted by Gustav Stickley and his family.  In the early 1900s Stickley and fellow period designers like Greene and Greene, Roycroft and Limbert created a renaissance of honest workmanship and honest designs in their furniture.

In contrast to designers of the preceding Victorian era, they rejected the cheaply made, mass-produced, ornate factory furniture of the time.  They believed that beauty does not come from ornamentation, but from sturdy construction, simplicity of purpose, and optimal presentation of nature’s materials.

Well, it turns out that over 100 years after the Arts and Crafts movement, Vermont furniture makers continue to remain true to it's values of simple elegance.  For a look at some examples of Vermont style Craftsman Furniture, visit our website to view our Frank Lloyd Wright collection, Contemporary Craftsman Collection, Cherry Moon Furniture Collection, Copeland Berkeley Collection, Copeland Monterey Collection, Northup Craftsman Furniture Collection, American Mission Furniture Collection and Modern Mission Furniture Collection.

We've been carrying the entire line of Vermont made Copeland furniture for several months now.  Although the new, modern mid-century styles are very popular, especially with families in metropolitan areas, it was the traditional, Shaker Style Sarah Bedroom Collection that weighed in as this week's best selling furniture.

This 100% American made furniture is handcrafted right here in Vermont and features clean Shaker style lines and balanced proportions. The beds are handmade of solid natural cherry hardwood.

The bed shown here is a romantic raised panel sleigh bed but the Sarah collection also includes a Shaker-style spindle bed and a number of variations of the two, with choice of low and high footboards.  You can customize everything online, including the wood which comes in 11 finish options.  There's even a custom two-tone variation of solid maple and cherry wood bedroom furniture that's getting popular.

The Sarah set offers matching cases too: dressers, chests, lingerie chest, armoire and night stands.  Check them out today along with the Top Ten Reasons To Buy Copeland Furniture From Vermont Woods Studios.  Why wait?
