Shaker Furniture: Moving, Shipping and Delivery
Sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun when this customer sent us a nice note about how her Shaker furniture was delivered so professionally by our shippers. Our shipper is an award-winning executive moving company that also ships fine furniture for Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Vermont Woods Studios. We include this service in the base price of our furniture (Free Shipping).

Last week we received an enthusiastic email from a family in California thanking us for the great job our moving company  did with the delivery of their Vermont made Shaker bedroom set:

“I wanted to let you know what a wonderful experience I had with your movers. I had one of your beds shipped to my vacation home in the Sierras. Because the road is very steep and winding, the shipper needed to bring the bed in a special shuttle, the cost of which they covered.  Also, I wasn’t able to be present at the house at the time a driver was available to make the delivery, and was able to arrange to have a concierge service meet the driver and let him into the house to assemble the bed. The shipper offered to reimburse me for the cost of the service (up to $75).

I was told by the concierge that the driver was very professional and efficient. He arrived on time and handled all the details of moving and assembly. It was a pleasure to purchase furniture from you and to work with such an excellent shipper.  Thank you so much!         Best Regards,   Debbie D

We love hearing your Vermont made furniture stories and reviews, whether they’re about the delivery experience or the good times you share around the dining table with family and friends.  Keep ’em coming!  You’re helping us make our systems better.  In this case, the comments went to straight to our shipper where the driver and his manager reviewed them together (maybe someone will even get a well-deserved raise).  Other comments have helped us improve the quality of our Shaker furniture and the logistics needed to get it from the forest to your living room.

So help us Movers and Shakers by sending in feedback about your new Vermont handmade furniture.  Use the comments section below, email us or connect using our Facebook.  Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Modern-shaker-bedroom We'll be introcuding our new luxury Modern Shaker Furniture Collection in a few weeks but I wanted to let you have an insiders look at what's to come.  This is one of the three lines of Vermont Made furniture we were photographing in Burlington last month.  We have several pieces up on the website now, but we're still working on it and the entire collection is not yet available online (it is available by phone).

Straight-rounded-edges

This is classic Shaker style furniture with a few modern twists, like arched aprons and curved corners.  Actually customers have their choice of square or rounded corners and edges.  It's amazing how different the pieces look just by changing that one feature– the corners and edges.

These luxury collections offer our customers a new finish choice too.  It's a high end, hand-rubbed linseed oil and wax finish– something you don't see around much these days– and it's absolutely incredible to the touch.  It's so finely sanded it feels almost like soft skin.  Keep checking back at Vermont Woods Studios furniture to see additional pieces coming online, including beds, chests, dressers, armoires, night stands, dining tables, buffets, hutches, occasional tables and more.  Check out the new photos on our homepage.

Shaker-dresser
At Vermont Woods Studios we have the privilege of working with some of the best fine furniture makers in the world, so the crafting part of our business is always pretty trouble-free.  It's the shipping end of things that presents the biggest challenge.

Our shipper is an award-winning antique furniture specialist.  They are the shipper of choice for Sotheby's and Christie's too.  Occasionally however, we get a phone call that something has gone awry.  That happened last month when Jessica L phoned.  There had been a mis-communication between Jessica and our shipper and as a result, this Vermont Made Shaker Buffet was delivered when she was not at home.

Normally the shipper would contact Jessica and return another day, however Jessica's neighbor volunteered to receive the delivery on her behalf– a solution that didn't work out for Jessica.  Our job, when something isn't quite right like this is to fix the problem and make sure our customer is happy with the result.  Rebecca is our ace problem solver and here's how Jessica described her damage control efforts:

Dear Peggy-

I wanted to write you to thank you for the excellent customer service I received from
Rebecca.
I initially wrote to complain that a delivery of a dresser had been
made without notice or my confirmation – since I was not home, the
dresser ended up at my neighbor's. Rebecca immediately emailed me back, and called, with apologies. I had not expected or thought that anything could be done, but Rebecca
arranged for the delivery men to return and move the dresser from my
neighbor's to my apartment. I was so impressed by the attention she gave
the matter, as well as her ability to redress the situation. The
dresser was moved yesterday, without a hitch. Also, the piece I ordered
is absolutely beautiful. I look forward to ordering from Vermont Woods Studio in the future, and my neighbor – who housed the dresser for a
week – also asked for your website info, as he loved the piece.

I don't usually write letters like this, but I don't usually receive
such great service. The true mark of a company is revealed, I think, not
by flawless service, but how problems are addressed. This situation was
addressed with the utmost care, respect, and competency. I truly thank
you and

Rebecca for that.

All best,

Jessica

Thanks Rebecca for all you do for our customers and our business.  You are awesome!  And thanks Jessica for taking the time out of your busy day to write such a nice note.
