Labor Day was created to honor the achievements of American
workers. This national holiday is a
perfect time to celebrate the hard work that Americans do every day.
At Vermont Woods Studios, we are constantly amazed at the
dedication and hard work that goes into handcrafting fine wood furniture. It is a skill that has been handed down to
Vermonter's for over 200 years, and for many of our craftsmen, the technique is virtually unchanged. The furniture
at Vermont Woods Studios is 100% American made furniture with sustainably
harvested American hardwoods. Our furniture makers carefully select only the
finest solid cherry, maple, walnut, and oak woods to ensure that they make the
highest quality furniture that is intended to last for many generations. It is even backed by a lifetime guarantee.
For Labor Day we are putting our gifted furniture maker's
pieces on sale, so that you can honor these American craftsmen, too. With a lot
of Labor Day events, we know that this is a busy weekend. So, we're having our
Labor Day furniture sale run five days, from Friday, August 31st until Tuesday,
September 4th. This allows you the time to fit in fun and relaxation, plus take
advantage of our holiday sale. During our Labor Day furniture sale, you can
save 15% storewide (plus free shipping), and conveniently shop 24 hours a day on our
Whether you're traveling, socializing, shopping or relaxing we hope
that you have a wonderful weekend!

We're celebrating our Made in America Holiday Shopping Challenge success with a store-wide 15% Off Fine Furniture Sale. This has been such an exciting week for us, with the ABC World News crew spotlighting our efforts to get friends and relatives to "buy American" this Christmas shopping season. Manjula and Dennis decided to share our revelry with a big sale– it's store-wide from tomorrow until December 13.
Don't forget to watch us (or set your DVR) tomorrow night on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer and then join with all of us who are promising to buy at least some American made gifts this Christmas– and be sure to get counted on Facebook!
As a company that sells exclusively American made furniture (Vermont-made, actually) we're psyched to get this level of traction behind our push to create more American jobs. As consumers, we have the power and what better time than Christmas (when we're each spending an average of $700 on gifts) to excercise that power!

We're celebrating the Made in America awakening started by Diane Sawyer and ABC news with a storewide SALE on our 100% American made furniture. This doesn't happen very often. We do try to offer a great sale each week, but it all depends on the current price of wood and the status of our independent furniture makers. For example sometimes they'll be willing to offer a discount on a certain furniture collection because if they limit their production to a small number of items they can achieve an economy of scale that they'll pass on to our customers.
But once or twice a year we'll put the whole store on sale! Now is one of those times. It's a risk for us because we need to get enough orders to fill up our trucks, thus compensating for the furniture sale discounts by achieving big savings on shipping. So if you've been thinking about purchasing high quality, handmade, solid wood furniture for awhile, now is the time to make your move! Check out this American Furniture sale and contact us with your questions. We'll look forward to hearing from you.

This week ABC News with Diane Sawyer is running a Made in America series in an effort to get people to think about American jobs whenever they buy something. The series takes a look at a family of four in Texas. It turns out they own hardly a thing that's made in the USA. So ABC news clears their house out of everything imported (basically only a flower vase is left) and re-fills it with American made furniture, appliances, clothing, toys and such. It's interesting and a great reminder to buy American.
At Vermont Woods Studios all of our furniture is 100% made in America but we realize that's not enough. Like any other American company that's going to be successful selling to consumers in the USA, we have to also have the best quality, best prices, best service and best social and environmental policies. We're always working on that and welcome your feedback and advice.

Many thanks to Marcie Gabor and the fine folks at Made In The USA Brand for awarding Vermont Woods Studios Handmade Furniture their prestigious American made brand and logo certification. Only about 100 American businesses have earned this distinction and we are proud to be one of them. All of our furniture is indeed Made in the USA– all handmade in Vermont actually.
Marcie published an interview with us on her blog last week, highlighting the question, "Do You Know Where Your Furniture Comes From?" More and more our customers are interested in this issue and wanting to make sure their furniture is made of sustainably harvested wood and crafted in America. If you have a business that makes all of your goods in the USA, give Marcie a call and help spread the word about American made products.
