Manjula, Kendall and Loryn have been working very hard this week on making it easier for you to shop for all solid wood bedroom sets. Check out this ultra-modern Astrid Cherry Bedroom Set page they've recently finished. It's a contemporary Copeland Furniture creation, made right here in Vermont of course, and crafted from all real solid cherry wood.
We've had Copeland's entire collection up since the start of 2012 but customers were looking for an easier way to build bedroom sets and compare pricing for different combinations of chests, dressers, beds, night stands and mirrors. Now you can use the drop-down menus on this sets page to price out dozens of options for your Astrid Bedroom Set.
I'm looking for feedback to see if this kind of presentation is helpful to you. Let us know in the comments section below or on our Facebook. Thanks!

Walnut furniture has been one of our best sellers this year, in spite of the fact that there is a 10-30% premium on the wood. Walnut wood is becoming rare (due to a disease called Thousand Cankers) so we are super careful about making sure ours is sustainably harvested from forests where re-planting is well managed.
We use a couple different types of American walnut wood for our furniture.
For thick, organic slab tables we often use claro walnut wood from huge old (up to 100 years) shade trees that have been taken down (usually from city streets) because of safety reasons. These slabs typically have beautiful, interesting character resulting from things like burls and branches.
For modern looking furniture, customers generally do not want "character wood" so we use younger walnut trees with straight grain patterns grown in managed forests in the mid-west (since walnut doesn't grow well in Vermont). This is the contemporary SoHo walnut 4 drawer chest, made by Copeland Furniture with solid, walnut wood.
Whether you're shopping for organic, walnut slab tables or Modern walnut furniture, it's important to verify that you are indeed getting real, solid walnut wood, as opposed to cheaper woods that have been stained dark to look like walnut. Be sure to ask your salesperson to confirm the wood type and its origin before you buy. Ask if the furniture has been made from solid walnut wood or walnut veneers.
Learn more about walnut wood and see photos of beautiful walnut furniture on our website. If you take the time to find real solid walnut furniture as opposed to what most stores call "walnut" you'll probably have that furniture for a lifetime. Enjoy it!

If you're looking for luxury custom bedroom furniture that's uniquely yours but you're shopping on a budget, you probably ought to have a look at our new Vermont made Copeland Dominion Bedroom Set.
Dennis, Manjula and Kendall designed this bedroom set page so you can customize your own style, color, drawer pulls, dresser and chest size, bed type and more online. Or you might prefer to stop by or give us a call for help with all the choices:
There are four cherry colors to choose from: light colored natural cherry to the dark smoke cherry stain shown here. The bed headboard can be customized to feature panels, spindles, slats or even genuine leather upholstery. Underbed storage can be added too.
The dresser and chest can be customized to the size (3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 drawers) that best fits your space and there are 2 choices for customizing the shape of the tops on each piece.
We figured if you looked at all the possible combinations for customizing this collection there would be about 64,000 so little chance anyone else will have the same thing! If you like it and need help sorting through all the choices, give us a call. This is a brand new bedroom set for us but we're already seeing a lot of interest. I'm eager to hear what you think. Let us know in the comments section below or on our Facebook!
As with all of our furniture, this bedroom set is 100% made in America (right here in Vermont actually) with real wood, sustainably harvested from local and regional forests.

Our friends at Copeland Furniture in Bradford, Vermont have come out with what I think is America's best selection of storage beds. Apparently our customers agree because these platform beds with under-bed storage were our best sellers last week.
Perfect for apartment or condo living Copeland's modern beds are designed for both comfort and style. This one, the Horizon Bed is shown in a dark chocolate stain over maple wood although several lighter stain colors are also available.
Each piece in the Horizon bedroom furniture collection is handmade in Vermont with solid, sustainably harvested maple wood and carries our Vermont Woods Studios Lifetime Guarantee.
Copeland offers several other storage bed designs including the Berkeley Storage Bed, the Monterey Storage Bed, the Dominion Storage Bed and the Harbor Island Storage Bed. These American made platform beds literally do the heavy lifting when it comes to under-bed storage and customers appreciate the high quality and craftsmanship that's become synonymous with Copeland Furniture's brand. We think you will too!

When I started Vermont Woods Studios Fine Furniture I was working out of my home office and seven years later I still spend a good part of my workday here. So I'm always interested to see what new furniture is coming out for home offices.
Copeland Furniture has recently brought out a couple new workstations: the Sarah Modular Corner Desk with Rolling File and Return and the Berkeley Desk w/ Organizer & Return shown here.
These solid wood workstations are designed in an "L" shape to fit in a corner space but they are modular and versatile so you can change them around as your needs change. I've seen the return desk used as a sofa table and it worked beautifully.
Check them out. A handmade, solid wood workstation in your office upgrades the whole experience of working at home.

Custom furniture is a luxury that many customers have given up on prior to discovering our made to order furniture at Vermont Woods Studios. And it's true that if you're going to commission an artisan to design and create unique pieces just for you, there is a lot of work, time and expense that goes into that.
But if you can find a furniture design you love, that you're just looking to modify or customize, then expense may not be an issue at all. Such is the case for our two-tone wood bedroom sets from Copeland Furniture. This SoHo bedroom furniture, for example can be customized online in your choice of 7 different maple and walnut wood combinations at no extra charge.
How about that? Custom furniture at catalog prices. What could be better? Check out our website for other customizable furniture available in two-tone wood combinations, including the the Copeland Berkeley Bedroom Set (with 2 tone cherry and walnut wood) and the Modern American Furniture Collection (customized in your choice of solid cherry, maple, walnut or any two tone combination of these woods). Give us a call with your questions and customizations.

We've been carrying the entire line of Vermont made Copeland furniture for several months now. Although the new, modern mid-century styles are very popular, especially with families in metropolitan areas, it was the traditional, Shaker Style Sarah Bedroom Collection that weighed in as this week's best selling furniture.
This 100% American made furniture is handcrafted right here in Vermont and features clean Shaker style lines and balanced proportions. The beds are handmade of solid natural cherry hardwood.
The bed shown here is a romantic raised panel sleigh bed but the Sarah collection also includes a Shaker-style spindle bed and a number of variations of the two, with choice of low and high footboards. You can customize everything online, including the wood which comes in 11 finish options. There's even a custom two-tone variation of solid maple and cherry wood bedroom furniture that's getting popular.
The Sarah set offers matching cases too: dressers, chests, lingerie chest, armoire and night stands. Check them out today along with the Top Ten Reasons To Buy Copeland Furniture From Vermont Woods Studios. Why wait?

We received our first fine furniture order from Alaska last week and that makes the 50th state we will have delivered furniture to. Once the bedroom set arrives safely, we'll have to have celebrate this milestone with a little party.
It's actually a pretty exciting accomplishment for a small company like Vermont Woods Studios Furniture.
It turns out that packaging and safely shipping your fine furniture is the most challenging part of our business and we're always working to make the system work better, faster, cheaper and stress-free.
Our preferred method of shipping fine furniture is to blanket wrap it and send it "white glove delivery" with the world's number one, award-winning furniture shipper: Clark and Reid. They are the best. When you receive your furniture from C&R, they carefully bring it into your home, set it up wherever you like, help you inspect it for any shipping damage and remove the wrapping. You do nothing but smile.
However Clark and Reid is not the fastest or the cheapest. So when customer's are in a hurry and need to save money, we can sometimes (depending on size) package and ship their furniture via common carrier or even FedEx to get it there faster and cheaper. We call it DIY delivery and it has just recently been made possible with advances in packaging technology.
If your order is eligible for DIY packaging and shippping, we'll let you know. As you can see, it's not your typical UPS delivery. It took 4 of us to wrestle this filing cabinet out of the box.
I always try to emphasize to our customers that unpackaging and moving solid wood furniture is not easy. It's heavy (often >100#) and if it has doors or drawers, you want to be especially careful not to damage or unbalance them. If you're a "handyman" DIY can save you money and time but for most customers I wholeheartedly recommend the luxury and peace of mind that white glove delivery brings.

Copeland Furniture is doing their annual housekeeping. The other day I broke the news that their Sarah and Berkeley armoires are being discontinued as of June 1, 2012. Today I have another victim to add to the list, the Omni Laptop Desk and Mini Workstation.
I thought it was a cool idea, especially for urban apartment dwellers looking to maximize the use of small spaces. A desk, printer table, file cabinet and storage piece all in one. Perfect for the guest bedroom or kitchen corner.
But I think desktop computers are becoming obsolete in micro offices and (thankfully) people aren't printing much anymore. So maybe the need for micro-office furniture is just a small bookcase or shelf now.
What kind of furniture do you have or need in your home office or micro office? If the Omni fits your needs, better give us a call today! A few more weeks and it'll be gone.
If you miss the deadline, take heart… Copeland will continue to offer it's Catalina and Astrid style laptop desks.

I guess most people now prefer to store their clothes and linens in California Closets or other built-in organizers. The other former life for armoires was as TV and media cabinets. But, alas that use has also become obsolete.
So, if you have a Berkeley or Sarah bedroom furniture collection and you've been thinking about completing it with an armoire, the time to act is now. They will be discontinued and unavailable after June 1.
