Our Green Team poses for an enthusiastic group photo

Here at Vermont Woods Studios we are committed to staying active within the community around us. That is why each year we volunteer and donate as much as possible to organizations local to the Vernon, VT area.

With Earth Day 2016, Arbor Day and Green Up Vermont so close together this year, the team here at Vermont Woods Studios wanted to do something visibly impactful.

Michelle, Rebecca and Sean search for trash to pick up

On a sunny afternoon we trekked down to the Connecticut River (just a short drive from our showroom) to clean up a local beach. Throughout the year the river swells from heavy rains and melting snow and has a tendency to pick up trash and debris as it rises.

The Connecticut River runs from Quebec, Canada to the Long Island Sound and is the largest river in New England. Affecting a prodigious amount of local environments along its banks, it’s crucial that it is well maintained and taken care of.

Rebecca finds an unidentifiable plastic object to be thrown away!

We’ve pulled everything from tires to patio furniture, clothing, glass bottles, cigarette butts and more from the river and its banks.

On clear days when the leaves have fallen from the trees we can even see the river from our Stonehurst Showroom. Founded with a belief that businesses have a responsibility to make the world a better place, we like to show just how easy it is to make an impact for the greater good–no matter how big! A group of eight of us filled five trash bags in just under an hour. Imagine what you and your family and friends can do?

Look for local Earth Day 2016 events in your local newspaper or online but remember–everyday is Earth Day so you don’t have to wait to get involved!
