Certified Wildlife hatitat
The National Wildlife Federation has recognized us in their ‘Garden for Wildlife’ program. Our Stonehurst showroom is on 109 acres of sustainably managed woodlands and meadows which NWF has designated as a Certified Wildlife Habitat®.

Dear Customers, Thank You!

The National Wildlife Federation is America’s largest wildlife conservation and education organization. We’re excited to support their work by creating a Certified Wildlife Habitat® as part of their ‘Garden for Wildlife’ program.  This achievement is only possible because of the strong support we receive from our wonderful customers and stakeholders.

Fellow Nature Nuts: you can do the same at your home or business!  If you have a garden that improves habitat for birds, butterflies, frogs and other wildlife, join the club and get it certified. It’s all about providing your neighborhood wildlife with natural food sources, clean water, cover and places to raise young.

Stonehurst Pollinator Garden | Vermont Woods Studios
This is our pollinator garden. We’re trying to bring back monarch butterflies with it, but I have to say it isn’t easy. Actually growing nectar flowers is no problem. But wild turkeys keep getting into our milkweed which is essential habitat for monarchs. Grrrr.

Why Does a Furniture Store Care About Wildlife Habitat?

I founded Vermont Woods Studios as a vehicle to raise awareness about where your furniture comes from.  If you’re purchasing furniture at a big box store, there’s a good chance it’s made with wood that was illegally clear cut from from wildlife habitats in developing countries that cannot afford effective conservation programs.  We promote & sell Vermont made furniture as an alternative for people seeking fine furniture from sustainable sources.

50,000 Trees & Counting

For each customer, Vermont Woods Studios plants at least 1 tree to help replace those that our competitors still choose to remove from the forest illegally.  So far we’ve planted over 50,000 trees– thank you, Wonderful Customers!  Read more about our mission of conserving wildlife habitats on our website.

How to Create Your Certified Wildlife Habitat®

You can create a welcoming haven for local wildlife, no matter where you live. Here’s help if you want to turn your yard, balcony container garden, schoolyard, work landscape, or roadside greenspace into a Certified Wildlife Habitat®. It’s fun, easy and makes a big difference for neighborhood wildlife.  You can change the world.
