Your porch or patio is a great place to entertain guests, dine, and relax with your friends and family. Even a simple backyard can be transformed into a beautiful secondary living space when designed well! Simple upgrades in your outdoor furniture, lighting, and decor can turn your space from plain to inspiring in no time!
1. Think about what you use your space for, or what you want to use your space for the most in the future. Do you want it to be a relaxing place for your family? A place to entertain friends and host parties? A nice spot to spend time alone and read? Think about what you envision the space being. This will dictate the decisions you make about your outdoor furniture & decor.
2. Draw out your space. Measuring your space is imperative in buying outdoor furniture because you need to know the exact amount of space you have available before you start buying. Go out to your space and analyze what the typical traffic patterns will be. Do you need a lot of room for people to walk around? Take notes on highly trafficked areas you’d like to keep clear.
3. Browse Pinterest & other inspiration sites for all of the elements you’d like to see on your patio space. Think about food– do you need a grill, decorative wood serving bowls, or dining tables & chairs? How about your lighting–candles are always a great option for a romantic and dreamy outdoor space. Hanging string lights are festive and bring life into the space. Get a piece of paper, browse Pinterest & take note of all of the different things you love about porch and patio decor.
4. Consider the climate. Will your outdoor furniture & decor need to be weather resistant? If your patio furniture will be exposed to harsh heat, cold, winds, rain, etc… you might want to consider products that are maintenance free and can survive throughout even the most severe weather conditions! Do a little browsing online and you’ll find great outdoor rugs to keep the floor looking stylish and resistant to the weather too! If your furniture, rugs, etc, will be exposed to rain and wetness, don’t use any fabrics that will mold or decay over time!
5. Colors. Choose color schemes that bring out the personality of your space and your home! We love the bright blue of this ultra modern outdoor furniture set–accented by the blue water of the pool. Think about your space and the feeling you want your porch or patio to give your guests, and find colorful furniture and decor to match it! Browse Pinterest for inspiration.
Stay tuned for more updates on the perfect outdoor furniture style for you & your space!

We’re in the middle of winter here in Vermont but elsewhere in America people must be getting ready for Spring. We’re getting lots of inquiries about our Polywood all weather Adirondack chairs. It seems we’re not the only ones unwilling to haul outdoor furniture back and forth from the basement every year.
Unlike the wooden chairs above, today’s all weather Adirondack chairs are made of recycled plastic milk jugs or Polywood. They offer the traditional design that’s proved itself comfy for generations along with new state of the art plastics technology that makes these chairs super durable. Polywood holds up against harsh weather such as rain, snow, ice, and salt water. It’s insect, mold and mildew resistant, requires no maintenance and even comes with a lifetime guarantee. Best of all, there are over a dozen colors to choose from and you’ll never have to touch up or paint (Polywood’s color runs all the way through each recycled plastic board).
So, let us know which Adirondack chair (wood or Polywood) and which seasonal setting (winter in the mountains or summer on the lake) you prefer on Facebook.

I love blogging about our customers and their comments, feedback and reviews of our furniture. B.R. of Westport, CT sent us this photo and testimonial:
We love our new white Adirondack furniture! Looks great and inviting and is EASY care! Makes me feel like I’m on vacation in the Cape when I look at it…. :-))
Furniture photos are always ten times better when the customer or their pets are in them, don’t you think? I want to write a blog post titled:
I’ll need more photos though so I’m reaching out to all you Polywood owners today. Surely some of you have dogs that qualify? The Polywood Adirondack furniture set above comes in 13 different colors (blue, teak, tangerine, red, sand, mahogany, lime, lemon, green, black, aruba, slate grey or white). Granted some of them won’t match your dog. But what color is your dog? I’m going to have a hard time believing you have a dog that doesn’t match one of these colors.
How about you post a photo of your dog and your outdoor furniture on our Facebook? Even if they don’t match we’ll send you a free copy of Rachel Carter’s Vermont Explorer’s Guide just for being such a good sport. And I’ll collect the photos and post them here on the blog. OK? Humor me. Please?

We love getting customer comments, feedback and suggestions about our American made furniture, especially when the reviews come with photos attached. Today we’re sending our thanks out to Katie B who recently received her Polywood Presidential Outdoor Rocking Chairs:
“Our deck in the mountains of western NC faces the morning sun and is uncovered. Thusly, our need for strong, durable porch rockers. They are so comfortable and look amazing!! Thanks, Vermont Woods Studios!” Katie B
Here’s a little information on these durable outdoor rockers. They’re a green product, made in America from recycled plastic milk jugs. We guarantee them to last a lifetime (a little known benefit I don’t think you’ll find at any other furniture store). The porch rockers come in 12 traditional and bright colors. They’re built in Indiana with maintenance-free recycled plastic lumber and premium stainless steel hardware. The seats and backs are contoured for extra comfort, plus comfortable elbow support and big armrests make it easy to get up. Optional seat cushions are available and our price includes free shipping.
Oh and there’s no need to store these outdoor rockers during winter months – leave them outside! Polywood is weather resistant and fade resistant. The color isn’t just on the surface of Polywood, it’s all throughout the plastic lumber so there’s no painting, staining, waterproofing, stripping or resurfacing needed. It’s a product you will never have to replace.
Give Liz or Sean a call if you’re interested in learning more or need a sample of Polywood in one or more of the many colors available (blue, teak, tangerine, red, sand, mahogany, lime, lemon, green, black, aruba, slate grey or white).

It’s summer, the sun is finally out and you’re ready to lounge by the pool in style. Need a new chaise lounge this year? We’ve rounded up the Top 4 Polywood chaise lounges for your relaxing pleasure. If you follow us on Facebook, you’ll know that we’ve been suffering from one deluge after another this “summer”. The view from our porch hardly looks like the one our polywood rockers are looking at above. No… our view is all mud puddles and raindrops. But our ever optimistic sales and customer service staff isn’t letting that get them down.
I guess our customers aren’t giving up on having a summer either because these Polywood Presidential Outdoor Rockers were our best sellers last week.
A couple years ago, in response to customer requests for outdoor furniture, we selected Polywood as the best all weather furniture to meet their needs. Customers wanted sturdy, maintenance free, all weather porch, patio, pool and beach furniture. And we wanted a product we could guarantee for a lifetime, just like we guarantee our wood furniture.
Polywood came out on top of a number of outdoor furniture lines we evaluated. It’s heavy construction is sturdy and durable– it won’t blow off the beach, deck, patio or into the pool. Polywood withstands extreme heat, freezing cold, salty air, and corrosive chemicals so you can leave it outside all year and never have to worry about where to store it. There’s no more mold, mildew, weathering, cracking or warping with Polywood and no painting, staining, waterproofing, stripping or resurfacing.
In addition to all that, Polywood is a great value– it’s a product you will never have to replace. And best of all, for our eco-friendly furniture lovers– Polywood is made of recycled plastic milk jugs.
There’s only one downside of Polywood– it can’t seem to stop the rain.

Memorial Day weekend is the time we start thinking about where to go for summer vacation. Summers are so beautiful (and short) here in Vermont, that many of us don’t go away for vacations. We tool around here in the Green Mountain State… maybe taking occasional trips to the coast of Maine or other scenic spots around New England.
But whether we’re doing a micro-vacation after work in the back yard or heading to Lake Champlain for the weekend, the Adirondack Chair is considered essential equipment in Vermont. So with the school year coming to a close and warm weather settling in (well, at least it’s forecast for the coming week), I thought I’d post a quick rundown of some of our most popular Adirondack chairs. Grab a Long Trail or a margarita while you browse through the selection:
If you want to feel like you’re vacationing at one of the Great Camps of Lake Placid or Saratoga Springs, then you’ll have to check our our Classic Adirondack Furniture collection. These are pretty authentic replicas of the original Adirondack chair designed by Thomas Lee in Westport, NY back in 1903. Comfy and roomy, this outdoor furniture can be customized online in 7 different traditional colors: teak, sand, mahogany, white, black, green and gray. The collection includes a tete-A-tete group, a love seat, gliders, rockers, dining furniture and a folding Adirondack chair in addition to the chairs shown above.
The Long Island Adirondack Furniture collection is a modern take-off on classic Adirondack furniture. Bright and cheerful, this outdoor collection can be customized online in 14 different colors: light or dark blue, tangerine orange, lemon yellow, lime green, sunset red, teak, mahogany, sand, white, black, forest green or slate grey.
The Seashell Adirondack Furniture collection is a more high end set, with the main distinction being the size of the pieces. Seashell pieces are over-sized and up to 50% heavier that the Classic Adirondack and Long Island pieces. Great for coastal areas where you’ll never have to worry about losing them to the tide or a strong wind! Available in traditional colors only: teak, mahogany, sand, white, black, forest green or slate grey.
The South Beach Adirondack Furniture collection looks much like the Seashell style but it’s smaller, lighter and less expensive. Customize South Beach chairs online in all 14 colors, including the vibrant blues, greens, red and yellow. The chaise lounge in this collection is shared with the Seashell collection– as I don’t think you would want one any bigger (it weighs in at a hefty 53 pounds).
What is more exciting for kids than having pint-sized furniture of their own? Polywood has 3 different Adirondack pieces designed specially for the younger generation:
When the summer’s over, you can leave Polywood furniture outside without worry. It’s impervious to rain, snow, ice, and salt water and carries buyer protection warranties you won’t find with other outdoor furniture.
So that’s the skinny on hefty, Polywood Adirondack furniture for your summer vacation pleasure. Now it’s time to start scheduling your time off. Grab your calendar and another Long Trail.

Isn’t Springtime great for relaxing in your rocking chair on the front porch? You can grab a drink and a friend and watch the world go by. I know Douglas is chomping at the bit to do this at Stonehurst as he’s got 6 of Polywood Jefferson Rockers all assembled and ready to put on the porch. We’re hoping we’ll all be able to sit out there by the end of the month or so, as renovations are scheduled to wind down by then.
Since Polywood Rockers were our best sellers last week, we must not be the only ones longing to get outside and enjoy the Spring air. If you’re one of those people and need a sturdy, high end, all weather chair you can leave on the porch throughout the year, give the Jefferson Rocker a look. It can be ordered with or without wicker in your choice of 6 traditional colors: white, black, teak, mahogany, sand and green.
Polywood furniture is eco friendly and made in America from recycled plastic milk jugs. It’s ultra-durable, weather-resistant and can be left outside all year round. At Vermont Woods Studios we guarantee our Polywood furniture for a lifetime of use and we offer a low price guarantee as well.
Find more buyer protection policies for Polywood furniture and learn why these Jefferson Rockers were our best sellers, by browsing our website — perhaps from your front porch. Enjoy the Spring weather while you do.

In Vermont, spring and summer slip by all too quickly so when winter finally rolls out of sight, we want to get outside and relax in the sunshine ASAP. And that’s where the beauty of Polywood all weather outdoor furniture comes in so handy. There’s no longer any need to go schlepping downstairs to the basement and dragging heavy outdoor furniture outside before you can relax on the patio in the warm sunshine.
Polywood is new type of American made, recycled plastic furniture that can be left outdoors all winter long! It’s basically impervious to harsh weather such as rain, snow, ice, and salt water. Made from recycled milk jugs, Polywood is a thick, heavy, dense plastic designed to replicate high quality tropical lumber like mahogany and teak. It’s maintenance free and insect, mold and mildew-proof. And Polywood is available in natural colors, plus white, black and a wide variety of vibrant contemporary colors. Best of all, polywood colors are infused throughout the recycled plastic lumber, rather than just on the surface so there’s no need to ever refinish. Hooray!
Now your Springtime routine of lugging furniture to the patio, scrubbing it clean, scraping old paint and applying new paint pretty much boils down to this: pour wine, sit on your Polywood with a book and relax in the sunshine.
Check out additional details about this all weather outdoor furniture, including our Polywood lifetime guarantee, low price guarantee and the Top 10 Reasons to Buy Polywood from Vermont Woods Studios.
