Annual Furniture Society Conference in Boston This Weekend

June 16th, 2010 by Peggy Farabaugh

The Furniture Society meets in Boston this week, June 16-19 and it's a great chance to see, touch and sit in some of the year's coolest furniture.  Furniture makers from across the country will be congregating in Boston for a huge conference at MIT where, according to Boston.com "everything from green workshop techniques to 19th-century styles to laser beams will be fodder for discussion."  More than 150 furniture pieces will be on display in Boston, Cambridge, and Brockton’s Fuller Craft Museum.  Check out Boston.com for details, photos and links.  “There’s no better place than here to take a look at what’s going on today with furniture, both in its relationship with historical roots and where it’s going in the future,’’ said conference organizer Gail Fredell. “It’s going to be a really good overview of the state of the art of fine-furniture making.’’

Vermont Woods Studios salutes all of the talented fine furniture makers who have been selected to be featured in the show, especially Vermont artisans David Hurwitz and Kerry O Furlani.  Congratulations!
